TOMATO REGISTRATION
(Government Notice No. 879 issued on 27th August 2010)
Any grower (whether professional or amateur) or legal entity which is responsible for the property where tomato plants (Lycopersicon lycopersicum (L.)) are kept and/or cultivated anytime during September to December 2010, is obliged to register with the Plant Health Department until the 15th of September 2010.
This registration is applicable to tomato growers, including nurseries and private individuals growing tomato plants or seedlings anytime during the indicated period.
Any person cultivating tomatoes and failing to register with the Directorate shall be subject to enforcement measures as stipulated in Legal Notice 26 of 2010, Government Notice No. 233 of 2010 and the Plant Quarantine Act.
1. Farmers who cultivate tomatoes for processing or for local market

These farmers are requested to register by calling at the Plant Health Directorate, Annibale Preca Street, Lija (Malta) or at the Government Farm, Xewkija (Gozo).

Registration forms can also be collected from Plant Health Directorate, Plant Biotechnology Centre, Annibale Preca Street, Lija (Malta) or from the Government Farm, Xewkija (Gozo) between 1st September to 15th September from 8.00am-1.00pm.For any difficulties in filling in the registration form, nurseries should phone the Plant Health Directorate on Freephone 8007 2310.

Acceptance of Registration forms
The Plant Health Directorate will accept and provide assistance to anyone having difficulties in filling all the registration forms at the Plant Health Directorate premises - Plant Biotechnology Centre, Annibale Preca Street, Lija (Malta) or at the Government Farm, Xewkija (Gozo) between 1st September to 15th September from 8.00am-1.00pm.
IMPORTANT: In order to register, tomato growers are requested to bring with them their ID card, and the site plans (IACS) with details of fields/greenhouses being (or which will be) cultivated with tomatoes.
