The European Nitrates Directive, drawn up by the European Commission in 1991, aims to protect water quality across Europe by preventing nitrates from agricultural sources from polluting ground and surface waters.
This presentation, delivered at the LIFE Information Session, contains an overview of the InfoNitrates project.
The National Nitrates Action Plan (NAP), drawn up by the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs (MRRA), contains measures that cover all aspects of agricultural production to reduce the levels of nitrates.
These Regulations give further effect to Nitrates Action Programme and Council Directive 91/676/EEC
This report, conducted on behalf of the Malta Resources Authority, looks into the sources of nitrates in the groundwater of Malta.
