The Virology and Bacteriology Laboratories form part of the Diagnostic Laboratories were diagnosis on viruses and bacterial diseases is carried out. At the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory plants in vitro culture and micro-propagation work is carried out,  The Virology Laboratory is also equipped with a thermotherapeutic room which is used for the sanitation of plants by heat treatment.

For electricity, these two laboratories are sustained with a substation which is located in the basement of the Plant Biotechnology Centre which was built for this purpose. When the electrical supply fails, two standby generators are operated automatically. These generators supply the essential electrical power for the running of the Centre during the occasional power cut.
